Ricardo has over 30 years of experience in servicing the financial services industry in various capacities and sectors. Ricardo is the leader of Financial Services practice in Brazil and Latin America. As a member of KPMG Brazil Executive Committee since 2004, he is also the coordinator of Brazil Markets Program. Ricardo also leads the KPMG Central Banks network, a global team comprising professionals servicing Central Banks in the KPMG international network. Ricardo was the global coordinator of large audit engagements as lead partner of clients such as Bradesco, Itaú BBA and Banco Central do Brasil, and as the Latin American coordinator of global teams in the region, for clients such as Citibank, ING and Deutsche Bank. In the advisory area Ricardo was the leader or a key member of KPMG teams in providing support to Financial Conglomerates developing entry strategies for Brazil and / or Latin America. This experience included ABN Amro acquisition of Banco Real; HSBC acquisition of Banco Bamerindus, Santander strategic acquisitions and alliances in the Latin America region, and most recently the opening of Bank of China and ICBC in the region. These projects included key steps in the implementation of expansion strategies, from developing the initial entry plans up to assist in the integration of business platforms. Ricardo was the partner responsible to implement the External Audit program at the Brazilian Central Bank, being the first audit partner to conduct an audit at this organization in 1999 (when BCB started to be subject to independent audit). He act as lead partner for BCB from 1999 until 2003, and from 2008 to 2010. Ricardo has a strong networking with the top players in Latin America, working in partnership or as service provider with the most successful financial organizations in the region. He has total commitment to using his skills, practical experience and personal network within KPMG Latin America to ensure the very highest quality of services. Ricardo has had an active participation in several studies published about the banking industry, among which "Banking Valuation", written by INSEAD Professor Jean Dermine. Ricardo is the co-author of the preface to the Brazilian edition of the book. Ricardo has been participating in a significant number of conferences as speaker on a range of subjects related to the banking and investment industries, accounting and the effectiveness of internal control processes. He is also the author of several articles about the finance industry and his market views are frequently quoted in specialist publications and journals.
