Philip Deeks is the head of KPMG’s EMA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Financial Services Regulatory Insight Centre (RIC) with a specific focus on issues and matters relating to consumer duty, retail conduct and culture.
The RIC plays a key role in helping KPMG firms’ professionals and clients stay abreast of the regulatory developments - providing practical insights on the strategic, operational and regulatory impacts.
Philip has over 25 years of experience in relation to compliance, conduct and culture across all FS sectors. He has held a number of senior compliance roles within industry working for an insurer, platform, asset manager as well as for an IFA/Wealth Manager firms.
He has also worked at both the FSA and FCA responsible for identifying and assessing risks, both emerging and existing, to drive Supervision’s risk prioritisation and mitigation strategy and execution.
The remainder of his time has been as a regulatory consultant supporting a large and varied number of firms on a wide range of retail conduct related topics including Consumer Duty, Regulatory Due Diligence, conduct risk frameworks, compliance effectiveness, conduct and culture assessments, suitability reviews, authorisations, corporate governance, financial promotions and large-scale remediation projects.
In Philip’s previous role, he was a nominated FCA Skilled Person responsible for conducting Section 166 reviews in relation to Conduct of Business issues.
