For Ian, creating the best outcomes for clients is about deep listening and insightful questioning. It is also about building exceptional teams and capabilities.
Ian joined KPMG more than 20 years ago and has extensive experience in the provision of consulting services, including technology performance and governance advice, program and project management, technology assurance and business systems control advice.
During his time at the firm, he has worked and deployed projects in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States for a variety of high profile clients. One lesson he has learnt along the way is the importance of accepting advice. “A coach appointed to our executive team once asked me why it is that people often employ experts to give them advice only to debate it or ignore it.” Since then, he has made a point of trying to support and empower individuals that he has sought advice from.
Ian’s spare time is largely shaped by his family. He spends much of it watching their sporting achievements – a good way to relax, “although at times it can become reasonably stressful!” Whilst running offers another opportunity to unwind, Ian also enjoys playing music. Ian studied trumpet and continues to play. He enjoys all live music and often attends concert tours, among his highlights are Chris Botti (trumpeter), Cold Chisel and Bruce Springsteen.
